Labrador Puppy Training Tips

Now that you have a Labrador, it's time for Labrador puppy training. But when it comes to puppy training, there are some tips that you have to follow and here are some of them.

Before you train your Labrador, you have to socialize with your pet. You can do this by walking your dog or by playing with him for several hours. It is important that your dog feels comfortable when he is with you to ease the hassle during training. Aside from you, your family should also socialize with your pet to create a good harmony.

One of the fastest ways to train a Labrador puppy is to use a crate. Crate training not only makes housetraining easier but it also provides your Labrador puppy with a safe place to sleep and rest. But since you have a Labrador, choose a crate should be big enough for your pet to lie down. Preferably, buy a crate that suits well with the size of your pet because like most dogs, Labrador puppies don't want to do their business inside their crate. So if you leave too much space, your Labrador puppy will be able to do his business in the crate and sleep far enough away from the poop.

You shouldn't use a crate as a means of punishment during Labrador puppy training. Your main goal is to provide your Labrador with a safe area where your pet can rest. Using the crates as a means for punishment will simply defeat its purpose. But if you need to introduce the crate from your Labrador properly, you are sure to use it effectively for training.

You should also be ready to have some dog treats with you during the Labrador puppy training. If your dog did the command perfectly, you have to give him some treats. By doing this, your pet will surely do the same trick or command over and over again, knowing that there is a treat after. Dog treats can be purchased in a pet store but you can also make them yourself.

When doing Labrador puppy training, make sure not to hit your pet. Keep in mind that using force to train your pet will do you no good. So instead of hitting your dog, use the positive approach. This method can be done by ignoring your dog or by simply saying "NO" or "STOP" after doing something wrong.
